COAD Programs: Community Development Division Services I Training Services Section Goals: Provide affordable and effective training that enables community action agencies to provide quality services to serve the low-income residents of Ohio, and serve as a resource for technical consultation and trouble-shooting. Ohio Weatherization Training Center (OWTC): COAD operates the OWTC under a contract with the Ohio Department of Development. The first OWTC opened in 1980, and as we move forward, we will continue to strive to improve the training and technical services we offer in the state of Ohio.
Home Weatherization Assistance Program Training and Technical Assistance: Under the HWAP grant, the OWTC trainers provide on-site technical assistance to community action agency staff members. This one-on-one training compliments the classroom training and enhances the skills needed on the job. Ohio Center for Lead Abatement: COAD is licensed by the Ohio Department of Health as a provider of EPA-approved lead abatement and hazard mitigation training courses through the Ohio Center for Lead Abatement. COAD is a member of the EPA Region III and V Lead Training Consortium, coordinated by the University of Maryland - Baltimore. Since 1993, COAD staff members have provided worker, inspector, risk-assessor and supervisor/contractor training for hundreds of Ohioans. COAD has provided lead training courses for private contractors, CBO and local government staff through grants from the USEPA, Ohio Department of Development/Office of Housing and Community Partnerships (OHCP) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). Contact G. H. Runevitch (grunevitch@coadinc.org) for more information regarding working lead-safe, lead training classes, and on-site technical assistance.
