Need Child Care Data?

Goal: To provide a reliable source of comprehensive, accurate data on child care supply and demand, and trends in the early care and education industry to providers, agencies, stakeholders and communities.

COAD's Early Care and Education Division and its Child Care Resource Network are the region's hub for child care data. Local data is used to develop care in your community where gaps exist, to provide reports to funders, and to provide trends for advocacy efforts on behalf of the Early Care and Education community. If you want to know the cost of care in the region, the numbers and types of programs, or where there are gaps in care, COAD ECE has the data you need. If you are considering opening a child care program, COAD can provide a data report that tells the details of the market in your area.

At COAD, we receive many questions on local supply and demand. We have a comprehensive data collection and analysis system that provides information on the availability and types of care; the cost of care; and the need for additional care and education services for children.

  • When someone wants to open a child care center COAD can provide the local statistics to help develop a business plan.
  • If an employer wanted help to justify the cost to provide an employee child care benefit, COAD can help.
  • If a family child care provider wonders how her fees compare to others in the neighborhood, COAD has the answer.
  • In addition, many communities are facing major child care dilemmas like children left home alone after school. Do they need a school age care program? COAD ECE can help communities assess that need and make plans to generate a needed service.
