The
David V. Stivison Appalachian Scholarship Fund was created in memory of
the former COAD employee as a tribute to his pursuit of academic excellence
and his commitment to help others achieve their fullest potential. The
scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are residents
of the 30 counties in the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development
service area and want to attend college but lack the required resources.

Other Scholarship Opportunities
The Governor’s
Office of Appalachia has generously awarded COAD $6,000 for scholarship
funds for participants to attend the
Appalachian Leadership Academy. Requirements to apply for the funds include
a 100% match from the sponsoring organization, and that the participant
be from an Appalachian Regional Commission defined at-risk or distressed
county of Appalachian Ohio. Because of the generosity of the GOA, nine
scholarships of $600 were awarded to participants of ALA for the Class
of 2005. For more information about scholarship assistance for ALA
Class
of 2006, please contact Betsy Gosnell at bgosnell@coadinc.org. |
